Pray with us?
Hello family and friends,
We know life has been very different for so many of you these last few weeks as coronavirus spreads around the world. We’ve also had a weird schedule and lots of time at home together as a family. One of the blessings in all of this has been our ability as a family to focus on prayer during this time. Having a slower morning with nowhere to be means that the kids and I have been talking more about specific prayer requests. And more time at dinners at night has opened up conversations about people and countries we can be praying for.
There is so much we can be in prayer for right now and we are humbly asking that you add our adoption process and India to your list of prayer requests. We have a few updates and specific things we ask that you pray for as individuals and families:
1. India is under a 21 day nationwide lockdown. In a country where millions are already living in unbelievable poverty, this is a very hard hit. We know that we as a country are feeling the effects of economic shut downs and we’re asking that as you hear about and pray for financial problems in the US, would you include India in your prayers as well? Particularly the many vulnerable children and families who already struggle to find work and meet basic needs.
2. The coronavirus is spreading in India. Would you pray for orphanages that are filled with children and caregivers? Thankfully the coronavirus seems to spare children for the most part, but there are still many orphanages with immunocompromised children who need your prayers. On top of that, as older people get sick and death tolls rise, we will see more and more orphans in a country that already has so many. Would you pray that God would mercifully spare lives and protect the most vulnerable from getting this disease?
3. Pray for the leaders of India. Leaders all around the world are having to make very tough decisions on behalf of their people to protect lives. Would you pray for India’s leaders... that they would make wise decisions during this difficult time.
4. We are excited to say that we received an email from our case worker that our agency is specifically advocating for our case before CARA (the governing body for adoption in India)! This is so encouraging to us as we’ve been waiting almost 36 weeks now for approval of our paperwork in India. Please pray that as Lifeline advocates for our case and as our names and paperwork go before CARA officials, that they would approve our paperwork so we can be matched with a child soon. This wait has been so long and we would really love your prayers that some movement would happen in the next few weeks!
5. Pray for the salvation of the people of India. The world is struggling right now and we are seeing the devastating effects of sin... disease, death, economic hardship. As Christians we have hope in a Savior during these times, but so many Indian families do not. Would you pray that this would be a time that many people from India come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior? Pray that this would be a time of spiritual awakening and renewal not just in India but all over the world.
6. Praise God for His sovereign hand over all things. God is totally in control of coronavirus, of our adoption process and of the future. And He is good. What a comforting thought! We don’t need to be anxious or impatient because the God who spoke the earth into being still upholds and governs the entire universe. He is so so good friends and family! Even as we got news today that India was shutting down and there was potential for yet another slow down in our process, we received an encouraging note and check in the mail for our adoption from some friends. Coincidence? Absolutely not. God knows what He is doing and He is absolutely trustworthy! He cares for and loves our sweet child even more than we ever could and He knows that child by name. Praise God with us that He is still on the throne and no virus will have the final say because He has already secured the victory!
Thanks for continuing to pray for, support and encourage our family in this process! We feel so humbled and blessed!
